Bar El Federal, Picadas at a Cafe Notable Posted on 15 Jan 00:49 , 0 comments
The city government of Buenos Aires takes great care to preserve and honor the great cafes which have withstood the test of time and maintain their architectural and cultural integrity. Seventy-three restaurants across the city are marked with the ‘Bares Notables’ seal, a badge of honor for their historical significance. One such notable bar is Bar El Federal, in San Telmo.
This old-time landmark bar has been operating for almost 150 years. The old wooden tables and sunken bar, decorated with a stained glass and polished mahogany mantle, hark back to another time. The walls are covered with surrealist paintings and shelves holding bottles of fernet. Their menu boasts an amazing tortilla española, but they are famous for the picadas.
If you take your coffee with a dash of nostalgia and old world charm, servite aca.
